RFID cards are best suited where a lot of information needs to be contained within the card itself, such as loyalty, vending and access control. Hospitals, laboratories, medical establishments, keep records of their patients in either files, computers or both.
With the help of smart cards, all the data with regard to the respective patient is stored on the card it self. The tests, previous records, current status, appointments etc, can be stored on the card. The patient then has to only carry the card while meeting the consulting doctor. The doctor can use the RFID reader / writer, to view and update the information on the card.
The software; ETRIMS, communicates with the device and the card. It gives the access to store information with regard to the patients. Apart from the usual Name, age, address etc the software supports the storage of tests conducted, tests required, results, medication etc.
